Introduction to GPU Programming (March 17-23, 2025)

Designed for companies needing increased computing power for complex algorithms or large datasets in fields like AI, biomedicine, simulation, and computer graphics.

REQUIREMENTS
A Linux or Mac computer with an Internet connection is required. Basic experience with Linux and programming in C or C++ is recommended.

OBJECTIVES

  • Introduce remote access to GPUs in supercomputers.
  • Explain GPU architecture and the CUDA programming model.
  • Teach CUDA programming, both for the host and the GPU.

CONTENT

  • Introduction to GPUs: Motivation, evolution, and comparison with CPUs.
  • Execution Model: CUDA structure and parallelism.
  • GPU Architecture: Multiprocessors and memory hierarchy.
  • CUDA Programming: System functions and data management.
  • CUDA Parallelism: Threads, blocks, and warps.

METHODOLOGY

Fully online course with a theoretical and practical approach:

  • Theory (1h, asynchronous): Pre-recorded videos for self-study.
  • Practice (2h, synchronous): Hands-on exercises on a supercomputer.
  • Personal Work (4h): Guided assignments with tutor support via chat.

CERTIFICATION
A certificate will be awarded to students who complete the assignments within the given deadline.
