Last Monday, March 23, the X4HPC network launched its new 2026-2028 period with a kick-off event held in the auditorium of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), which was attended by nearly sixty people.
Cristian Canton, Associate Director of the BSC, welcomed the attendees, who included X4HPC member organizations, stakeholders in the value chain -such as Foment del Treball Nacional, Do It Now, TIC Salut i Social, Barcelona Activa, Mobile World Capital, and Tech Barcelona- as well as other members of the R&D network community.
Next, Mariona Sanz, head of Innovation and Business Development at BSC, presented the center’s strategic lines regarding technology transfer and highlighted the importance of projects like X4HPC, which should become a valuable partner for the BSC AI Factory.
Internationalization and expanding the ecosystem, as key points
In the main part of the day, Anna Escoda, director of X4HPC, presented the network’s performance report for the previous period (2023-2025), emphasizing key milestones such as network growth, market impact through the creation of nine spin-offs, the consolidation of infrastructure and technologies, as well as the training offered and support provided.
For her part, Júlia Masvidal, the network’s innovation manager, focused on the actions to be carried out in this new period, highlighting the emphasis on internationalization, as well as expanding the ecosystem -with the incorporation of the aforementioned agents in the value chain- strategic synergies with other projects such as the BSC AI Factory, and participation in key initiatives like the EOS Awards.
Finally, the network’s communication and dissemination strategy was also presented, which in this new period will be led by BSC, under the guidance of Maria Sayavera, communication and dissemination officer.
To close the day, the member organizations present and the agents in the value chain offered brief presentations, with the aim of introducing themselves to all members and beginning to establish collaborative relationships.
A closing reception with light refreshments marked the end of the event, providing an opportunity for relaxed conversation and the sharing of insights and anecdotes.
