Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Computing are converging to redefine the way science is conceived, executed, and applied. This fusion is enabling breakthroughs across domains: from building Earth Twins to understand and mitigate climate change, to developing sovereign chip designs tailored for AI, and advancing dual-use technologies that balance innovation with responsibility. European Large Language Models are reshaping how multilingual societies engage with knowledge, while new computational methods are opening frontiers in social sciences, medicine, and engineering alike.
This new era is not just accelerating discovery; it is evolving the very scientific method toward a future where AI-driven simulations, transparent data practices, and ethical design are central pillars of progress. In this talk, we will do a walkthrough all these topics with sparks from the work that the Barcelona Supercomputing Center has been leading wordlwide.
