  This talk introduces the new program on Computational Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, a pioneering initiative in a European supercomputing center.  We will explore how the use of rich data, AI, and computing methods deepens our understanding of human behavior, societal trends, and cultural dynamics. You will also learn how these innovations can shape more effective public policies through enhanced data stewardship.

  In this presentation, we will outline the key objectives and research areas of the CSSH program, while showcasing a range of use cases that highlight the transformative potential of computational methods and AI in driving both academic breakthroughs and real-world impact.
