Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of mortality worldwide, disproportionately affecting low- and middle-income countries. Despite medical advancements, CVD is often misdiagnosed due to complex and varied symptoms, resulting in delayed treatment and adverse outcomes. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers a transformative approach to improving diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of heart conditions.

This presentation introduces CardiologIA, a suite of AI-powered tools designed to enhance cardiovascular disease detection and management, developed in partnership with ZeCardioTherapeutics and Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. We highlight three innovative projects:

RAPID-AIM – an AI-driven electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation tool for faster and more accurate heart attack diagnosis in emergency settings.
ZeCardio – a deep learning framework leveraging microscopy video analysis of zebrafish larvae to accelerate drug discovery for cardiomyopathies.
CardioGPT – combining Large-Language models and computer vision for automated and explainable diagnosis of heart motility disorders based on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

These AI solutions aim to democratize access to high-quality cardiology care, reduce diagnostic errors, and expedite life-saving treatments. By integrating AI into cardiovascular medicine, we can bridge existing disparities, improve patient outcomes, and shape the future of digital healthcare.
